Winning: People aren’t as smart as you think

People say that participating should make you happy even if you don’t win, but from my own studies that were conducted in 2018, I found results that said the exact opposite. My study was conducted after the results of a Speakathon competition, on about 43 of my classmates and students from other sections as well. In total, I got 54 people’s opinions out. Out of the 54 people, only 1 was a winner and you could see the smile and joy on his face while the others who didn’t win, frowned. Now I only got one winner from 2 sections because I was the winner in my section. I was quite happy and it did feel good but I didn’t like that the people who did not win were frowning. After I took their opinion about winning, I motivated them by telling them that they can improve themselves from the results of this competition. I only have to say that… my idea about motivating them didn’t work, not only did they not believe me, they didn’t even smile a little. Understanding mistakes and errors weren’t their main goals but winning the next competition was their main goal, that’s made to fail. If they didn’t improve, how in the world can they aim for the win? I would consider that it is common sense to learn from mistakes but my study showed that people don’t care about improving, all they wanted was the win. Aiming for anything just like that won’t work, I argued with them for a bit, but because time was running out, I had to move to the next person. Just like I said a few lines ago, the person who won from the other section was overjoyed, when I asked him about how he won, he said “I don’t know how I won but I do know that I focused on improving after the last competitions where I didn’t win”, the fact that the person who won said the exact opposite of what the other said shows why he won. In my section, I was the one that won but I would have to say that my win was luck, not talent because one of my classmates, wasn’t there due to unknown problems, I won. Anyways, I did learn something important from the study I conducted.

So now what should I write? I guess I’ll write, bye!

  1. Loved to read such a gravityed man made or Alfa behaviour topic navigated with easy word called competition.
