Mars Orbiter Mission

Do you know that how much far is Mars from earth ? 274.76 million km . Have you ever thought that we can reach to mars at the first attempt ? But India has made it possible . India is the first country to to reach to mars at his first attempt in the world.

ISRO {Indian Space Research Organization} planned to send a satellite to Mars. But they were having some issues as below
1. They didn’t have a rocket, which can carry a much weight.
2. They do not have much budget.
3. They do not have much experience person in ISRO.
4. The rocket that we have PSLV {Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle} and that cannot carry much fuel.
But they had solved all the issues

  1. Weight – They made a lighter satellite and made some improvement. Ex – We used cloth to send signal instead of metal, etc.
    2. Budget – As Chandrayaan-2 was postponed {Amount need in all = 800 crore} we took 400 crore from Chandrayaan-2 and the remaining 400 crore was to buy all the sensor, transponders , camera etc so as Chandrayaan-2 was postponed They took the instruments from Chandrayaan-2 .
    3. Experience in ISRO – There was no experienced person in ISRO as we were trying first time but we took this a challenge and motivated their team. Rakesh Dhawan , Tara Shinde {Head of The Mission} think the mars mission as a dream and for their team it was just a job 9 to 5 that’s sit , they were thinking that how to change the attitude of the team . They motivated the team like there was an old person in the team so Rakesh motivated him like Sir you are looking to young, what is the secret of your beauty? And make understand the young once they used a philosophy that “THOSE WERE THE DAYS’’. They just gave a reminder to remember the childhood that when you have decided to become a Space Scientist.
    4. Fuel – They need a lot of fuel to reach mars(1500 Kg) but the challenge was that we can carry 850 Kg of fuel only. So the solution for this was that we made a particular point where we will fire [If we push anything in space so with the help of gravity only it will turn around] so when the Satellite reaches the point we will fire and it will go a little far and then turn off the engine. To understand this concept let us take an example: – Whenever we have to make puri so we make the oil hot. When the oil is hot for deep frying the puri, do not heat it anymore and save the gas by turning off the gas, the oil has cooled down a bit, then you again turn the gas on so we are doing the same thing with the satellite. But still the fuel was a little low so an idea has came to their mind that the ship also uses wind to sail just like that if we will make some changes than we can even move the satellite with the help of solar energy.
The team did a lot of hard work and used many new/creative ideas. But before some days of launch there was a storm in Bengaluru. Everyone was very worried because they cannot launch during the rain. Despite not wanting Rakesh announced “Mission Abort’’. Rakesh sadly went to his car and sat. When his eyes went to the side mirror of the car he look a person closing his umbrella. He understood that the rain has stopped. He rushed to announce “Mission Reactive’’. They all were ready to launch and the launch was successful. Everything was going correctly as it was planned. One midnight there came a problem that they lost the signal the team was called immediately. They were trying to resolve the problem. A team member used a gharalu nuska/jugad technique she turned the system off and on and it worked.

India hit the target in his first attempt and made a success story.

  1. It’s a great achievement achieved by ISRO. They completed the mission at the rate of ₹7/km whereas my area’s rikshaw drivers charge ₹10/km. 😆

  2. its 267.59 million km far away from earth and a new rover called perseverance was launched on 2020 30th July and landed on mars at 2021 18 February and is looking for microbes and launched the first technical mars helicopter named Inguity
