Why Redmi Is Bad But India Doesn’t Know It

Recently, phones have become less and less durable but with a few exceptions, those exceptions are the phones that didn’t really lose durability for the sake of looks. A good example would be to compare the drop resistance of a new Redmi Note 8 Pro and a Nokia 3310, oh wait that’s a bit too much! So actually, I meant that most of the newer Redmi phones have inadequate durability for the sake of looks and price. But how can I say this when Redmi is one of the most-bought brands in India? Well, personal experiences with Redmi and Xiaomi. I have used a Redmi Note 8 Pro and that phone was the most badly thought out phone that I have ever seen! Let me give you a few examples.

Now let’s see how I’ll justify my above points. So first things first, we have the inadequate durability present in the Redmi Note 8 Pro, the phone is light and it has absolutely no crack prevention during a diagonal fall (especially on the speaker side), almost everytime a Note 8 Pro falls diagonally, it cracks it’s screen and the owner regrets their decision of buying a Redmi. I am not biased but a Samsung that had fell in the exact way wouldn’t have cracked and the owner would be happy. I have once cracked a Redmi Note 8 Pro and that was from a fall that a Samsung M51s has survived probably a hundred times. I’m serious here.

Second things second, the Note 8 Pro contains many unnecessary features such as a 2MP Macro camera which is supposedly for close up shots, in reality, the Macro’s close up shots can be replicated by simply using the main 64MP camera to to take a close photo and then simply crop it. That technique makes better close-ups than the macro could ever take. I’ve just ranted about that for way too long than my limit but it is quite a bad thing that Redmi does to attract more customers. One of its other useless features is the double SIM/SD card tray. I don’t know but it could be related to something at an engineering standpoint but why are there TWO SIM/SD card trays? Samsung does it fine with just one big SIM/SD card tray instead of two.

Third things third, Redmi probably knows about how bad their phone quality is but they don’t care about that at all. Redmi keeps reducing durability while notching up the looks that will be usually covered with a case.
