A Tribute to Jules Bianchi

Six years have passed since Jules Bianchi, one of France’s brightest racing hopes, died from injuries sustained during the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix, more than nine months before.

At Monaco in 2014, he finished P9 and scored the first points the Marussia team would score. On October 5 that year, he crashed heavily at Suzuka. His car slithered off the track at Dunlop Curve and struck a rescue vehicle that had been dispatched to recover Adrian Sutil’s abandoned Sauber. He suffered serious head injuries from which he died, aged 25, on July 17 the following year, having never regained consciousness. The Frenchman was driving for the Manor-Marussia team at the time of the accident but he had been guided by Ferrari, who had helped secure his F1 debut and planned to switch him to Sauber for this season, and Luca Di Montezemolo said he would have eventually replaced Kimi Raikkonen at Ferrari. Due to his death, the Halo was introduced, the halo saved the life of 3 other drivers. He will never be forgotten.
