Un-Banned Tech In F1 From 2022?

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile, which is he governing body of Formula 1, has made many rules changes and changes to the car overall as well. The FIA is known for making stupid and great decisions, one of those great decisions was the halo which saved the life of 3 drivers. In 2022, the FIA will introduce a new set of rules and regulations which will change the look and specifications of the cars. The FIA says “The changes are alll designed to create closer, fairer, and more exciting racing” but this could be one of FIA’s stupid decisions but let’s see what has changed before telling anything.

On the 2022 grid, the cars will have many features that were previously banned in F1. One of the things returning from the dead is ground effect which was previously banned for safety reasons. Ground Effect works with Venturi tunnels which work by forcing a lot of air into a small place and then letting the air expand. Ground effect in F1 is usually associated with Lotus and the genius designer himself, Colin Chapman. Here is how Venturi tunnels look

The hopes are that ground effect will lead to closer racing due to the following car not being effected a lot.

18 Inch Rims and Wheel Covers

To reduce turbulence, F1 will make the switch to bigger 18 inch rims with low profile tyers. Wheel covers will also return but there are rules to limit that. Here’s how wheel covers look,

Wheel Deflector Panels

Wheel Deflector Panels are also returning to cars but just like the wheel covers, the rules limit the innovation so we won’t see a fully covered wheel or something like that. Here is how Wheel Deflectors look

The Beamwing

The Beamwing also returns to improve diffuser performance and the rear wing is now in one piece instead of the endplates used before.
